“The Little Owl” by Austrian author
Lene Mayer-Skumanz with illustrations by Italian artist
Salvatore Sciascia (Bolzano / Italy) is a present to children, young
people and adults all over the world.
To this date we offer translations in 45 languages.
It was first sent 1998 on
its journey by the
City Library of Lienz and a community of men and women from different
countries, who mostly live in Eastern Tyrol, called “Weltbüro Lienz”.
It was a literary project during the first presidiancy of the European Union by Austria.
In this 24 years, many of the translations were a gift from former refugees, who stayed in our town Lienz. Our hope is, that the story provides an impulse for bridging the differences between cultures and religions.
We would be overjoyed to hear about your experiences with the story. Please help us share it.
