The little owl was sent on a quest by his parents, to gain wisdom. And, he was told, he be protected on his journey by the "great owl, who created everything".
He meets different animals on the way, including a woman and a man, and all of them are happy to see an owl, who is supposed to know all the answers to their "questions of the world". The little owl than returns to his home with the many special insights he has gained.
Following a reading by the Austrian author Lene Mayer-Skumanz in 1998 at the City Library of Lienz (Eastern Tyrol, Austria) the story of "The Little Owl" became a special project to a lot of people from all over the world.
Because of the universal themes of the story, the idea was born to translate it into as many languages as possible and to make it
available to readers of every age, everywhere.
In 2006, during the 2nd presidency of Austria, the
versions for every country in the European Union were available.
Over the years many great hearted people and "cultural ambassadors", as we like to call them, from many countries created 45 versions. Some of them were migrants, others found a new home in our surrounding as former refugees.
